Amber Copal with insects Madagascar- cca 2,53 g - 4x3x0,5 cm
Young amber is called copal. Malagasy copal dates back to the Quaternary period and is between 10,000 and several hundred thousand years old. A special feature of the Malagasy copal is the relatively large number of insect inclusions. Approximately every 10th copal contains at least one insect, and in some there are entire swarms of mosquitoes. In Baltic amber, on average, only every two hundredth stone contains an insect.
